The God of Surprises
Pentecost Praise 2002

The God of Surprises is the title chosen by our speaker, Revd Mark Melluish, for his address at the Diocesan Renewal Group’s Celebration of Pentecost in St Albans Abbey on Saturday May 25th at 7.30pm.

Mark is the Vicar of St Paul’s Ealing, a church which has experienced the renewing work of the Holy Spirit and substantial Church growth. Mark is married and has five children. He is an experienced speaker both at home and abroad. Together with his wife Lindsay, he has written a book on parenting, and has also co-authored another book on evangelism. He is no stranger to St Albans having spent his boyhood there. We look forward to hearing from him and having the opportunity of sharing in praise, worship and ministry as we celebrate God’s gift of his Holy Spirit. Our worship this year will be lead by Face 2 Face and, as usual, we welcome people from all denominations and none! Why not get up a party from your church and join us there.

What is your image of intercession? Boring, paranoid, superspiritual, the province of a spiritual elite? Then you might benefit from a prayer training day.

Saturday, 11 May 2002, Holy Trinity Church, Hounslow, Middlesex

Saturday, 18 May 2002, St Clements Church, Oxford

Saturday, 23 November 2002, St Luke's Church, Cranham, Essex

10am to 5.30 pm. 'Prayer Concert' at 4 pm

The training days will teach on the theology and practice of intercession in a way that makes it more fun, more holistic, more world-affirming and, above all, more accessible to everyone in the church. The practical teaching will culminate in a 'Prayer Concert' where there will be an opportunity to try out some of what has been learned and experience different creative and fast-moving ways of praying. It is aimed at anyone who feels a desire to pray, or for those who are already involved in intercession but would like to learn more.

Cost of places is £5 each, including tea and coffee, but bring a packed lunch.

To book contact Sue Pocock on 01332 200175 or email ife@anglican-renewal.org.uk.
